Broan-NuTone.® The recognized leader in residential ventilation."Green Building" defines ventilation in two ways; Spot, found in kitchen range hoods and bath ventilation, and Whole House, for overall Indoor Air Quality. Broan-NuTone has many products that deliver the required ventilation to meet either of these requirements.

"Green Building" is not just about construction materials, sustainable sites and water and energy efficiencies. Building "Green" includes many less tangible products and processes; that's what makes it challenging to understand. The U.S. Green Building Council® (USGBC) and the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) have compiled extensive lists and guidelines to help builders, designers and architects navigate the maze of information and better understand the requirements needed to achieve recognition in their programs. All of this information is accessible on their websites.

Although experts might differ on the exact requirements for "Green Building" one thing remains constant; the need for proper ventilation and whole house indoor air quality. Ventilation is not specified by product type but by the results it delivers. In other words, major environmental building programs such as ENERGY STAR® Home Program, USGBC LEED® for Homes and NAHB Model Green Home BuildingGuidelines tell you what the ventilation requirements are—how you get there may not be as clear. Helping you understand the product options that meet these requirements is where Broan-NuTone can assist.

Although not a requirement of USGBC® LEED® or NAHB Green Building Guidelines, Broan-NuTone also offers a number of products that can contribute to the overall environmentally-conscious construction project. Those products include Central Vac Systems, Trash Compactors and Solar Powered Attic Ventilators. Central Vac Systems remove dirt, not only from the carpet but from the home itself, by exhausting outside. Trash Compactors reduce the bulk in landfills and lessen the use of plastic trash bags. Solar Powered Attic Ventilators require no electricity to run while helping reduce cooling costs. Although not part of the building process, all are contributors to a true "Green Home."
