    This fan can be installed in either existing or new construction. Some customers use the word retrofit in terms of replacing parts on an existing unit. Please contact our Tech Support team (phone #) and they can assist you if that is your intent.

    Answer: 
    Yes, and if your vent hose distance to the outside is within 10-15' (with no tight bends) you are good to drop from the 6" hose down to 4". This is per Broan tech. support.

    Thank you for contacting us for help.
    The QTXE150 cannot be installed directly above the stove but can be installed in a kitchen to help remove excess airborne contaminents not captured by an inadequate range hood. This fan should not be used as an alternative to a properly sized range hood. The diagram on page 2 of your installation instructions tells you how to measure for installing safely outside the cooking location. You can also discuss your concerns with the Technical Support Group Monday-Friday, 7:30AM-6:00PM CST at 1-800-637-1453. Thank you for your questions, have a great day.
