    Rated 5 out of 5 by Broan downdraft ventilation system I had model 273003 for twenty years in my house. It is an outstanding product. I never had to have anything repaired on it. My cooktop was on an island and I did not want an overhead hood type exhaust. We are currently building a new home and I am definitely having the same system installed. Great Product. March 20, 2013
    Rated 5 out of 5 by Great hide away exhaust fan This item was exactly what I wanted. Stylish and futuristic while not compromising effectiveness. The telescoping fan works smoothly and quietly, and the fact that the blower is inclusive in this unit saved big dollars and installation work. It i not for the the novice do-it-yourselfer though. A proficiency in using tools, cutting and fitting a unit in place is a must. I recommend the average homeowner should probably hire a professional installer. But if like me you've installed dishwasher, windows, toilets, trash compactors and you want a rewarding and above average challenge, then go for it. My wife initially wanted an overhead exhaust and hood, but is very pleased I talked her into going with this over our island so as not to disturb the open feel of our kitchen. February 20, 2013

    Rated 5 out of 5 by Downdraft We were shown this model by our salesperson, after a different sales person had tried to get us to buy an expensive GE Profile model. We compared stats and found this to be quite comparable, and several HUNDRED dollars cheaper . It has done everything we have wanted so far, and would recommend this to others February 20, 2013

    What is the best way to repair a broken 273003 downdraft?

    The Eclipse by Broan in our kitchen stopped working properly. It will go up but it won't go back down. How do we repair this? How easy is it to replace this model?

    If it is the hood itself, use concentrated dish washing liquid. If it’s the filters, you can put them in the dish washer or soak them in a concentrated dish-washing liquid.

    Does the broan 273003 have a Serial Number?

    I purchased an extended warranty for this item and to register it they request a serial # ? I don't know where to look or if it actually has one?

    This range hood does not have a serial number. We use a date code instead. The date code is located on the gear cover that moves the chimney up and down. It will either be a 3 digit code consisting of 2 numbers and then a letter or it will be a 6 digit code consisting of 2 numbers, a letter, 2 more numbers, and one more letter.

    The date code is used in place of the serial number for warranty information.

    The 27000/28000 Series: Stainless Steel cover standard. Optional cover Black is available for the (273602C). The 27000 series is Internal Blower Units. The 28000 series is in stainless steel only & uses external blower 332H.
    The Downdraft System RMDD you have a choice of four Exterior blowers from 600 to 1500 CFM. This is only in Stainless Steel.

    The filters are in the air vent of this range hood.

    Remove them from the air vent by grasping the tab at the top of each filter. Wash the 2 aluminum grease filters in a mild detergent solution or a dishwasher.

    Note: The filters are different sizes. Be sure to replace them as removed, (wider one on the left), with tabs UP.

    I have the same question: where are the filters and how to take them out. The answer said "The filters are in the air vent of this range hood." But I don't see them. Do I need to remove the cover from right end of air vent in order to see the filters? Can I see the filters through Chimney Assembly (Part # 19)? There must be something obvious that I missed. But I have been trying to find the filters for weeks!!!
