    Rated 3 out of 5 by Motor bearings fail. The bearings fail and the motor seizes up after a few years. I have several installed in my apartment building and I have to replace a motor unit every couple years. Higher quality bearings/lubricant should be used. Mike June 11, 2013

    The 688 motor bearings seized. Can I order just the removable motor unit, or must I order the whole fan with housing too ? Mike

    I only want to buy the replacable motor unit, not the whole fan and housing or I will just have to throw away the housing (the original is mounted in the wall.)

    Thank you for the question on the model 671 exhaust fan. You can replace the 671 exhaust fan only, with a fan/light unit and wire the light and fan to a single switch. When you turn the switch on, the fan and light will both come on at the same time. For independent operation of the fan and light, you would need to run additional wires from the wall switch location to the new unit. For additional assistance on upgrading your 671 exhaust fan, please contact our Technical Service department at 800-637-1453.

    I'm trying to replace my old ventilation fan and I could not find the same model on your website. Is this model a replacement for 99080229 (663e/688e)? If not, could you please recommend something else for a small 1st floor condominium bathroom. I would like to replace the whole thing, maybe with something more quiet. Thank you, Andrea

    The part number given is for the 663E @ 50cfms. Parts are available the part # for the motor & impeller is S97012038 & the assembly MOTOR, IMPELLER, BRACKET IS S97012029.
    Youir housing is 8 x 8 1/4 and you can see thecurrent models 770 & HD50 housing is this same size & quieter. The specs can be downloaded on www.broan.com & parts can be ordered also on the site or by calling cusotmer service @ 1-800-558-1711.
